What Do Engineers Read?

The other day our team performed an interesting experiment. We each submitted a list of our top 10 resources that have influenced/helped our engineering career. The exercise was pretty open ended on purpose.  Some people stayed with books, others listed specific websites, but the coolest outcome was the number of non-technical books that showed up on the list.

Once all the resources were compiled into a master list, we sorted them by frequency. I won’t list all of the resources but it is worth noting that out of an initial list of almost 200 entries, I was only able to do the top 9 the first time around, because all the rest of the entries were unique and tied for that last (10th) spot!

The other thing worth mentioning is that the entries were provided by a mixed and diverse group of engineers, spanning a wide range of experiences and backgrounds.
